About Bank Tycoon:
Its a text game with fancy dressing. If that doesn’t scare you away then you might like it! Basically you will be looking at the same screens over and over while you buy properties and give out loans and become an arms dealer. It’s hard but for those that like deeper strategy they may find it entertaining. An interesting and novel idea ruined by a lack of execution. There is the base of a great game here, but as is I cannot recommend it and, given the chance again, would not buy it. The issue with EBM is that, beyond the early game, the gameplay loop becomes insanely tedious. In the early game, you are given a small amount of money and given the oppertunity to buy a “banking license” in a country from anywhere in 14th century Europe, North Africa, or Asia. You can invest in logging camps, real estate, farms, and luxuries like furs and gemstones and will receive their produce on the next turn. You can then sell the items, craft weapons to sell out Very disappointing game. There is no depth to the gameplay, just the same repetitive loop every turn. Every turn is the same, give out loans and acquire property, occasionally fund a war. The AI breaks all the rules and will continue to grow exponentially. Strategy doesn’t matter. I thought resources would add an interesting mechanic in terms of total supply and demand, but it doesn’t. The prices just go up and down randomly. The tech tree makes absolutely no sense. The user interface is terrible. The name is very misleading as there is no “evil” part, there isn’t a good part either. Very unfortunate as this could have had a lot of potential to it. But the devs never followed up on anything and the game hasn’t received any updates. This plays more like an IOS game than a final release PC game. Only buy it if it’s on 75%+ sale. Not worth the money in my honest opinion.
