While your primary ability to obtain things will be by defeating ‘, you are not required to do so and without spoiling anything there are ways to obtain the ‘soul’ currency without murdering everything in sight. The ‘sneak’ feature is simple and provides just enough strategic incentive to make me actively try it many times during a run, either for positioning or just plain surviving. The randomness of the dungeon design and loot tables does lead to a degree of ‘luck’ in terms of gear/loot that you find during your run, but that’s basically the definition of every roguelite style game in existence. If you don’t enjoy knowing that in said room you’ll find X items or what not, you should know enough about this genre game already to not be reading this review or considering buying this game in the first place. All in all, this game is very well made, has entertained me for over 60 hours thus far, has multiple difficulties to continue the challenge/enjoyment, has fun achievements to strive for, and is a game I can potentially complete in 20 minutes to an hour, depending on what I’m trying to achieve and a degree of luck/skill. I only wish there was plans to add more to the game and there may be, but I’m not one that follows a lot of game news or updates, I just enjoy being pleasantly surprised when new stuff comes.
